Christmas Cookies


Christmas Cookies

I have so much feel at home making decorated cookies and cakes in holidays. It is one of the vanilla cookies I have ever tasted. Christmas cookies will taste and look great and you are happily serving your family and friends.

 




Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 (1 1/2 sticks) cup butter 
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2  cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • pinch of salt 

Directions:

  1. preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
  3. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder, set aside.
  4. Beat butter and shortening on high speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Add sugar beat for1minute, until all combined.
  6. Beat egg and vanilla.
  7. Mix flour mixture and gently spoon into butter cream mixture until dough just come together.
  8. Wrap cookie dough with cling wrap, refrigerate for one hour.
  9. On a floured working surface, roll out to desired thickness.
  10. Use heart shape cookie cutter or other cutters  to cut the dough.
  11. Bake 375 degree F for 7 - 8 minutes until edges become golden brown.
  12. Transfer to cooling racks, leave it cool for 10 - 20 minutes.
  13. Once completely cool, decorate the cookies below directions.

Icing:

  • 1/2 cup confectioner sugar 
  • 2 - 3 drops of food coloring
  • 2 drops almond extract 
  • 1/2 tbsp corn syrup
  1.  In a small mixing bowl, put the confectioner's sugar and add food coloring, almond flavoring and corn syrup. Mix together until creamy paste.
  2. Using an icing bag, pipe lines of white color icing across red color flowed cookies.
  3. Drag a toothpick to decorate the cookies.
  4. Using a star cutter to cut out the stars with fondant icing for decorate top of the cookies.
