Christmas Cookies
I have so much feel at home making decorated cookies and cakes in holidays. It is one of the vanilla cookies I have ever tasted. Christmas cookies will taste and look great and you are happily serving your family and friends.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 (1 1/2 sticks) cup butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
Directions:
- preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Sift together flour, salt and baking powder, set aside.
- Beat butter and shortening on high speed for 2 minutes.
- Add sugar beat for1minute, until all combined.
- Beat egg and vanilla.
- Mix flour mixture and gently spoon into butter cream mixture until dough just come together.
- Wrap cookie dough with cling wrap, refrigerate for one hour.
- On a floured working surface, roll out to desired thickness.
- Use heart shape cookie cutter or other cutters to cut the dough.
- Bake 375 degree F for 7 - 8 minutes until edges become golden brown.
- Transfer to cooling racks, leave it cool for 10 - 20 minutes.
- Once completely cool, decorate the cookies below directions.
Icing:
- 1/2 cup confectioner sugar
- 2 - 3 drops of food coloring
- 2 drops almond extract
- 1/2 tbsp corn syrup
- In a small mixing bowl, put the confectioner's sugar and add food coloring, almond flavoring and corn syrup. Mix together until creamy paste.
- Using an icing bag, pipe lines of white color icing across red color flowed cookies.
- Drag a toothpick to decorate the cookies.
- Using a star cutter to cut out the stars with fondant icing for decorate top of the cookies.
